As the weather gets warmer, we naturally find ourselves responding, at the school, to a different set of challenges. It may become easier for students to decide to spend the day outdoors or "skipping school," which creates a difficult situation for students and teachers, particularly when makeup work is at play. In the building, we occasionally deal with questions regarding student attire. While we wholeheartedly support a student's right to express him or herself through what s/he wears, the attire cannot be disruptive or distracting to the learning environment. Consequently, we deal with some situations where garments are better served for the beach than the school building. Please check with students in advance of their departure for school, and please know that counselors will speak with students if and when any concern is raised.
In both cases, we strive to model an environment in which students learn to make respectful and responsible decisions. Your support toward those ends is appreciated.
